Power-Loomed Louis de Poortere "Samarkand" Wool Area Rug

Item Details

A power-loomed Samarkand area rug by Louis de Poortere. This Belgian-made wool rug features a pattern of large-scale palmettes, vines, and twinned oak leaves amid smaller sprays of flowers, over a cream-colored field. The palette is cream, pale slate blue, tomato, midnight blue, and dusty pink. Framing the field are four borders, including a primary border grounded in tomato, featuring a stylized herati pattern of palmettes, flower buds, and sprays of blossoms. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory wool fringe. It is labeled on the reverse.
