Signed Hand-Knotted Romanian Heriz-Style Wool Area Rug

Item Details

A vintage signed hand-knotted Romanian rug in a Heriz-style pattern. It has a large star medallion to the center in a palette of ivory, rust, pale blue, pinks, taupe and olive on a deep indigo blue stepped field. It has powder blue decorative spandrels and is framed by a compound border of carnation meander patterns and a samovar motif in the field colors. It is signed in a cartouche to one end. It has overcast edges and long, tied cotton warp fringe to the ends. Tagged to the reverse.
