Hand-Knotted Sino-Persian Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Sino-Persian area rug. This wool rug, likely made in China, is rendered in a palette of pale mint, cream, midnight blue, and crimson. It features an elongated central medallion enclosing a tile lattice and gul pattern. The medallion rests on a partly open mint field edged in cream-colored scrollwork. The field is framed by compound borders, including a wide primary border that reprises the gul and tiles of the medallion. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
