Item Details
An assortment of WWII era Japanese Invasion Money, also known as Japanese government-issued Philippine fiat money. Includes a one peso bill circa 1943 marked ‘53’ and ‘0507976’ and a fifty centavos bill marked with the block letters ‘PI’. These items were issued by the Japanese military to replace the local currency of various Asian countries in 1942. The idea was to confiscate all hard currency and replace it with these bank notes to declare independence from the Western Powers.
