Hand-Knotted Persian Shahr Babak Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Shahr Babak area rug. This wool rug appears to be the remainder of a once-larger rug that has had its borders trimmed away and new selvedge cords and fringe ends introduced. It begins with a star medallion at the center of a cranberry-colored hexagonal lozenge filled with irregularly rendered hexagonal outlines. The lozenge rests on a charcoal field filled with free-form linework and a partical medallion in each corner. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
