Assortment of Minnie Mikell Landscape Art on Paper

An assortment of three landscape artworks including watercolor paintings and a sketch by listed American artist Minnie Mikell (1891-1987). The watercolor paintings are signed to the bottom right in graphite. Using bright colors the paintings depict rolling hills and mountains. The graphite drawing is unsigned and is titled Train Station at Banff depicting a large mountainside. Each work is presented unmounted and without a frame.

Minnie Robertson Mikell was an artist of the Charleston Renaissance. She studied under Alfred Hutty at the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, South Carolina, Joseph Pennell at Art Students League of New York and E. Ambrose Webster in Provincetown, Massachusetts. She was one of the founders of the Charleston Etchers’ Club and a regular member of the Charleston Sketch Club. Mikell is well known for her portraits and still-life paintings, as well as landscapes presenting her life in Charleston and her travels abroad. Her work has been exhibited in the South Carolina State Museum, the Gibbes Art Gallery in Charleston, among others.

- some wear around the edges of the paper; toning is apparent in all works; some paper and glue residue from previous mounting is apparent to the verso.
