East Asian Gouache Painting on Silk of Bamboo and Nandina Berries
Item Details
An East Asian botanical gouache painting on silk. The piece depicts a close-up view of bamboo stalks and a Nandina ‘sacred bamboo’ shrub filled with green leaves and red berries, rendered with faint, controlled pools of pigment. The work is marked to the lower left with black calligraphy and a red artist’s seal. It is presented under glass beneath matting in a red and gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- minor toning to silk and matting; light wear to frame finish; glass would benefit from cleaning.
