A ceramic Chinese Buddhist sculpture. The work features an ornately dressed central figure, possibly Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara), the bodhisattva of compassion. She is seated within a grotto with applied shell-like decorations. A supplicant supported by a lotus flower is present before her. Glazed in shades of navy, deep magenta, and pale blue-tinged white. Unmarked.
