An original watercolor on paper by Thelma Walter (American, 1911- 2000). This painting depicts a bouquet of pink roses with greenery to a mottled wash background. It is signed T. Walter within image to the lower right and housed under a single mat in a dimensional wooden frame with an antiqued finish. It is protected by non-glare glass and hangs by a wire to the verso.
Thelma Walter worked in a variety of mediums, but primarily watercolors. She won numerous awards in juried shows during her career that spanned several decades. She exhibited in New York, Boston, Florida, Cincinnati, and Columbus, Ohio. According to a personal letter written by her son, Thelma “painted to give joy and meaning to people’s lives.”

- to fair. Water damage to the yellowed mat; accretion under the glass; marks to the frame edges.
