A limited edition lithograph after well listed artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864 – 1901), titled Divan Japonais. This Art Nouveau style print depicts a seated woman wearing a black dress and feathered hat, poised in front of an undulating background composed of silhouetted scrolls from a cello, a female form and hands from a conductor. A bearded man with a top hat stands nearby, watching inquisitively while clutching at a cane. To the margins is an inscription denoting the title, as well as an in-plate, monogrammed artist signature. The work is hand numbered 83 out of 245 in the lower margin near an illegible in-plate signature. The print is presented under glass beneath matting in a gold tone wooden frame featuring moulded acanthus scroll patterning to the surface and hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- glass would benefit from cleaning; light wear to frame finish; tape affixed to verso worn.
