A Turkish Yagçibedir prayer rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of dark royal blue, red, ivory, and caramel. It begins with a horizontal panel at the top of a blue field, the panel containing three side-by-side depictions of mosques, each outlined in ivory and topped with a ram’s horn motif. Below the panel are the mihrab, which is outlined in ivory, and a stylized mosque lamp, amid ram’s horns, florets, and stepped diamonds. The field is framed by four borders, including an outer guard border featuring ram’s horns over blue. Selvedges are double overcast. Ends finish with short ivory kilim skirts and knotted ivory goat hair and wool warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
