Antique Baroque Style Open Armchairs, Circa Early 20th Century

Item Details

A pair of antique Baroque style open armchairs, circa early 20th century. These project chairs feature elaborately carved frames with scrolled detailing throughout. They are raised on cabriole legs with paw feet. Scalloped side stretchers add support. They are currently upholstered in a red velvet with antiqued brass nailhead trim. The seats appear to be stuffed with excelsior and horse hair. These chairs are unmarked by the manufacturer.

Condition

- significantly worn upholstery with holes, fading and wear throughout; missing nail head trim. Significant finish loss and sun damage to one frame with both broken and repaired carvings to the crest; missing part to one front foot. Some wear to the finish of the second frame, especially near the handholds. Sturdy construction to both chairs.
