An oil painting on board of a landscape by French painter Jean-Désiré Bascoulès (1886-1976), created in 1919. The work depicts a landscape with heavy brushstrokes and various shades of green. Signed and dated in paint to the bottom right. Presented in an ornate gold-tone wooden frame.

Jean-Désiré Bascoulès was born in Perpignan and studied at the School of Fine Arts of Bordeaux. Known for his expressive style, Bascoulès produced portraits and landscapes throughout his life. In 1931 he was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in the title of Arts and Letters. Bascoulès work can be viewed in many institutions including The Museum of Fine Arts of Algiers and The Chamber of Commerce of Algiers, among others.
