Hand-Knotted Persian Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian carpet runner, likely from the Arak region. This wool rug, likely from Hamadan, features a vase and medallion design in an abrashed palette of tomato red, cream, mocha, and turquoise. It begins with a star medallion over red. Surrounding the medallion are flowers, palmettes, and foliage, with vases and boteh between the spandrels. The field is framed by four borders, including a meandering-carnation primary border over mocha. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with short cotton warp fringe. It is labeled on the reverse.
