An Erzgebirge four-tiered pyramid Nativity scene with windmill. This elaborate windmill decoration is German made, has a natural wood finish, and uses candle heat to propel the windmill and each scene below. Each level features different hand-carved and hand-painted characters and scenes from the Nativity, encased in lattice work borders and posts. The underside is marked ‘Original Erzebirge’ and ‘hergestellt in der ddr’.

Condition

- wax residue in candle holders; windmill finial missing; minor wear throughout from use.
