19th-Century Chinese Carved Soapstone Female Figure

A late 19th-century Chinese carved soapstone figure, Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Depicted is a female figure with a rooster form basket in her right hand and dressed in a plain robe. Standing upon an applied footed base with a small hole running from the bottom of the base through the top of the woman’s hair. The carving may have once been converted into a lamp and the later removed.

- minor scratches and marks throughout.
