19th-Century Chinese Carved Soapstone Vase with Figural Carvings

A late 19th-century Chinese carved soapstone vase, Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Having guardian lion figural faux ring handles and high relief floriforms appearing up the left side with encompassing leaves and foliage. Natural formation base with a cat figural to the right side. To the front of the body is a diamond panel with carved scene to the interior and to the verso is an etched koi fish yin yang symbol.

Condition

- large cracks present throughout; heavy repair appearing throughout with adhesive found in the cracks; some chips to the soapstone present throughout; scratches and marks present to the vase.
