Pastel on paper

An original pastel drawing on red paper. This loosely rendered pastel drawing depicts a lively party scene with generous use of color and vigorous line work. In the foreground, two figures play brass instruments and are flanked by gowned figures. To the mid-ground, several figures appear to be parading by holding balloons. In the background, there is a suggestion of foliage along with a marquee with the words International Hotel. The red ground adds to the festive atmosphere of this piece. Matted in Ivory and presented behind glass. Unsigned. Framed in dark stained wood with a gold tone liner. To the verso, wired to hang.
