A set of John Heneage Jesse’s histories and memoirs of England. These books are part of an Edition De Luxe, numbered 513 of 1000, printed for Francis A. Niccolls & Company, Boston, originally published through the latter half of the nineteenth century. They have half red leather wrapped marbled hardcovers, with gilt lettering and decoration to the banded spines. Jesse (1809- 74) was an English historian and clerk in the department of Admirality.

Majority of covers and backs are separated from spine. Some leather corners are blackened and worn through as well as edges. Tops of spine worn and separating from backing on some books
