An assortment of nine volumes from The Literature of Italy: 1265–1907. The sixteen-volume anthology was edited by Rossiter Johnson and Dora Knowlton Ranous and published in 1906 and 1907 by the National Alumni. These hardcover volumes are bound in full leather with ornate gilt cover and spine decoration; six are bound in brown leather with a lattice-like front cover design, and three in red with a cover design based on a famous sixteenth-century binding with the arms of Cardinal Bonelli. Titles include Machiavelli’s The Prince, D’Annunzio’s The Flame and An Anthology of Italian Authors.
