A 1965 Royal Goedewaagen SS Rotterdam menu decorative plate. This display dish commemorates the final dinner of an ‘Around-the-World Cruise’ of the SS Rotterdam in 1965. On the front surface of the gilt edged plate, the full dinner menu and ‘Flagship Rotterdam’ is written out. The menu is surrounded by a border of world flags and an illustration of the transatlantic ship known as ‘The Grande Dame’. The back of the plate is marked with the same style of writing ‘Farewell Dinner on board S.S. Rotterdam – Holland-America Line – Around-the-World Cruise – Jan. 23 – Apr. 12, 1965’. The dish is also marked ‘Royal Goedewaagen – Gouda – Holland’. Metal wires have been inserted near the rim for hanging.
