Knights of Pythias Ceremonial Sword with Scabbard

Item Details

A ceremonial Fraternal Order of Knights of Pythias sword and scabbard. The sword features a knight’s head pommel with a lion atop. The cross-guard finial features phoenixes; a chain runs from the pommel to one of the cross-guard finial. The clamshell on the cross guard displays the letters ‘UR,’ meaning uniform ranks, which was the militant faction now believed disbanded since the 1950s. On the reverse of the cross-guard are the letters ‘FBC,’ standing for friendship, charity, and benevolence. The hilt is wood wrapped in leather with brass wire. This particular sword is etched with the name J. B. Mackey to the blade; the reverse having etched scenes and decoration depicting Damon’s pending execution. The scabbard has decorative mounts. The scabbard also has rings attached for hanging. A cloth protective case is included.
