1870s Hand-Colored "Peterson's" Fashion Plate Engravings "Les Modes Parisiennes"

A set of four late 19th-century hand-colored wood engravings on paper, engraved and printed by the Illman Brothers. Each depicts an 1870s fashion plate from Peterson’s Magazine, from their Les Modes Parisiennes series. Plates include November 1878: An ‘At Home’, February 1876: The Evening Party, January 1878: The Winter Moonlight and June 1878 The Fête Champêtre. Each print is bordered in a royal blue velvet liner and presented under glass in a wooden frame with gold tone foliate gesso embellishments to the edges, fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to Fair; toning and foxing to paper with vertical crease down the center of each print; wear present along crease lines; minor chip to lower right corner of one frame; some frame joints are not fully flush; minor overall surface wear to frames.

- measures one frame; each visible image measures 10.75" W x 9.0" H.
