A hand-knotted Persian KAshan wool area rug. The rug features a central medallion in cream, dark blue, powder blue, and orange on a deep red field. The field is populated by a pattern of floral palmettes, vines, lancet leaves and floral blossoms in a complementary palette with dark blue spandrels. The field is enclosed by a compound border that features a herati pattern of floral palmettes and endless vines. It has an overcast edges and a short wool fringe to either end. Unmarked.
