A complete twelve-volume set titled Old Spanish Romances, published by J. C. Nimmo and Bain of London in 1881. These twelve crown octavo volumes are bound in half red morocco with raised bands, gilt decoration and marbled boards and endpapers. The anthology, illustrated with a total of forty-eight etchings by R. de Los Rios, contains English translations of Cervantes’s Don Quixote, Mendoza’s Lazarillo de Tormes, Alcman’s Guzman d’Alfarache, and Le Sage’s Gil Blas, Vanillo Gonzales and Bachelor of Salamanca, the longer works spanning multiple volumes. A decorative adhesive bookplate to the front endpaper of one volume reads "David Belasco".
