An original vintage oil painting on canvas by listed American artist and educator Thomas J. Strickland (Florida/New Jersey, 1932 – 1999). The portrait depicts a loosely-painted image of a young woman wearing a vivid red blouse. She has dark hair that matches her dark eyes, and her red lips pop dramatically from her pale skin. She sits against a scribbled blue, black, and cream backdrop. The painting is signed in red to the upper left. It is presented in a wooden frame with cherry stain and gold tone inner lining. A hanging wire is attached to the piece’s verso. Strickland studied art extensively, including at the National Academy of Fine Arts (New York) and the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts.

- a few small spots of discoloration to painting’s surface, particularly visible to upper left. A few very small scratches to frame.
