Five Minimalist Japanese Woodblock Prints
Item Details
A collection of five miniature minimalist woodblock prints by an unknown artist. Two of the prints depict the same image of a rabbit carrying a long stick, one depicts an anthropomorphic frog carrying a similar stick, and the remaining two depict simple foliage. The prints are illustrated in simple black linework. Each print is marked ‘Kōzan-ji’ (高山寺), a Buddhist temple in Kyoto prefecture, and the central print has two large characters and a red Kōzan-ji seal overlaid on the image. The pieces are all matted together in black and are presented behind glass in a wooden frame with printed foliage patterns along its edge. A hanging wire is attached to the piece’s verso.
Condition
- prints are slightly yellowed with age.

- each visible image area measures 3.75" W x 5.25" H, except central image that measures 4" W x 6.75" H.
