A grouping of Budai figurines. Budai (布袋, Hotei in Japanese) is a folkloric deity of happiness and contentment who is also known as the Laughing Buddha. He is depicted smiling, with a rotund belly, and fat earlobes and carries a bag over his back that he uses to feed the poor and needy. The collection includes an ivory colored resin figure with three three small children clinging to his body, a deep red figurine with a polished finish, a carved wooden figurine, and a small silver tone metal figurine.
