Antique Handwoven Persian Long Rug

Item Details

An antique Persian long rug. This wool area rug is handwoven in a palette of toffee, red, sapphire, and celadon. It features a colorful herati pattern over toffee. Framing the field are compound borders, including a turtle primary border over red, and two meandering-carnation minor borders over sapphire. Edges are bound on all sides likely as repair work. The rug is unlabeled.

Condition

- there are small holes; wear to weave includes areas of balding; there are areas that have been repaired, including in the weave and machined edging on all sides that is not original to the rug; could benefit from professional cleaning.
