An original etching on paper titled Beech Tree by Pennsylvania-based artist Elizabeth Lentz Horter (1900-1985). This etching features a kinetic image of a beech tree with its limbs twisting and stretching toward the edges of the composition. The prevalent energy is complemented by the broad, stable trunk and deep roots. The image is displayed on an indeterminate background and rendered with distinct values and expert line work. The print is signed in graphite to the lower right corner. It is titled in graphite to the lower left corner. Additional artist biography, gallery label, and inscribed details to the verso. This etching is presented in an eggshell mat under a protective acetate sheet.

Elizabeth Lentz: Born in Philadelphia, Elizabeth Lentz Horter was known for her prints and watercolor paintings often featuring American genre and street scenes. She remained active in Philadelphia, taught at Temple University, and collected art with her husband Earl. Her work has been exhibited and collected by various institutions including the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the National Gallery of Arts.

- to fair; scattered marks to the front and back of mat; wear to the edges of the mat; scattered marks to paper; acetate cover is slightly smudged; mild toning to paper; paper is cut slightly off center to the image; slight creasing around the plate mark; minor billowing to inked image; image is well inked and deeply plated.
