An 1852 edition of Histoire de l’Empereur Napoléon by Paul-Mathieu Laurent, called Laurent de l’Ardèche, featuring illustrations after painter Horace Vernet. This book on Napoleon Bonaparte was printed by Plon Frères and published by Garnier Frères of Paris in 1852. It is bound in one quarter leather with blind-pressed cloth-covered boards, raised bands, gilt spine decoration and gilt page edges; the front cover is embossed ‘Vigneau & Pasquier’ at the lower right. The book is illustrated in black-and-white with ‘500 vignettes par Horace Vernet, types et costumes militaires par Hippolyte Bellangé, portraits dessinés par Français, etc., etc.’
