An 1857 book titled Poems of the Late Francis S. Key, Esq., Author of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner.’ With an Introductory Letter by Chief Justice Taney. This book of Francis Scott Key’s poetry was stereotyped by Thomas B. Smith, printed by E. O. Jenkins, bound by S. R. Thomson and published by Robert Carter & Brothers of New York in 1857. The book is bound in full red cloth with gilt cover decoration.

- cap and tail damage; tears in spine; scratches, marks and stains to cloth; bumped corners; edge wear; loose binding; page discoloration; some apparent minor water damage; black-and-white print after portrait of Key by Charles Willson Peale affixed to free front endpaper with adhesive tape; discoloration of adhesive tape.
