1863 Hand-Colored Engraving "Vase en Émail Cloisonné"

An original 1863 hand-colored engraving on laid paper printed in the publication Gazette des beaux-arts, published by Jules Claye (1806-1886). The engraving is from a section of the book that catalogued the possessions of French political leader Charles-Auguste-Louis-Joseph, duke de Morny, and is titled Vase en Émail Cloisonné. The print depicts a stunning Chinese cloisonné vessel with ornate hand-painted embellishments and squinted eyes to its face. The print is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with an embossed and hand-painted leather face with various Chinese images. The frame has a folding stand to its verso.
Condition
- light discoloration to print. Scratching and scuffing across frame.
