Item Details

A pair of Mid-Century Modern Gouache Signed Paintings. One painting features light blue, red and yellow fish swimming on a pink background with black geometric triangles. The body of the largest fish is paper printed with East Asian characters affixed to the painting and painted over. The other painting depicts primitive mask images in red, blue, green and yellow on a pink background with black rectangular shapes. Both are signed ‘Jane’ to the lower right, however a note to the verso indicates that the signature on the fish painting was added by the seller, not the artist. Each painting is mounted without glass in a white wood liner and gray wood frame fitted with a sawtooth hanger. Notes to the versos date the paintings to 1954.

Condition

- some buckling to paper; large fish coming unglued; paper is foxed; stains on white liners; wear to frames.
