An engraving on paper depicting Robespierre’s Arrest, from a plate by listed French artist François Flameng (1856-1923). This detailed print depicts an unconscious figure laid out before a table of angry men, a pair of figures standing at attention just behind him. This work is dated illegibly and signed in plate to its lower left corner, and includes a blind stamp and image of shackles to its lower margin. The work is matted under glass in a wooden frame, a wire for hanging to its verso.

Condition

- toning, stains, and foxing to paper surface and matting; heavy wear to frame finish.
