Hand-Knotted Indo-Caucasian "Cloudband" Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Caucasian carpet runner. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of terracotta, black, cream, camel, and celadon. It features a tile lattice pattern of diamonds, which alternately enclose cloudband motifs amid palmettes and cruciform medallions with lanceolate wings. The field is framed by three borders, including a split-leaf herati main border grounded in terracotta. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
