An engraving A Shady Path by William Wellstood (1819 – 1900) after a Thomas Moran painting. This antique engraving on paper by American artist Wellstood, depicts a couple walking along a tree lined path to a meadow. Wellstood is a known landscape and historical engraver. The font in the lower left is marked ‘painted by Thomas Moran,’ the center is marked ‘copyright 1879 by W. Wellstood & Co.,’ and the in lower right is marked ‘engraved by William Wellstood.’ The art is presented in a mottled gold tone frame under glass, with an ivory mat.
