Knights of Pythias Ceremonial Sword with Scabbard

A ceremonial Fraternal Order of Knights of Pythias sword and scabbard. The sword features a knight’s head pommel with a lion atop; the cross-guard finial features phoenixes. The clamshell on the cross guard displays the letters ‘UR,’ meaning uniform ranks, which was the militant faction now believed disbanded since the 1950s. On the reverse of the cross-guard are the letters ‘FBC,’ standing for friendship, charity, and benevolence. The hilt is wood wrapped in leather with brass wire. This particular sword is etched with the name Thomas Trainor to the blade; the reverse having etched scenes and decoration depicting Pythias saying goodbye to his family and Damon’s pending execution. The scabbard has decorative mounts, including one depicting Samson destroying his enemy’s temple. The scabbard also has rings attached for hanging.

  • blade has some scratches and arnish marks, and is bent
  • scabbard has tarnish, loops show some wear marks
  • missing chain
