Vintage Mechanical Bank With Fire Truck
Item Details
A “Professor Pug Frog’s Great Bicycle Feat” cast iron mechanical bank. Made by the J & E Stevens Company of Cromwell, Connecticut circa 1880s. When working correctly, the bicycle-riding frog holds a coin in his mouth, and when wound and released, flips over, depositing the coin into the bank. To the other end, Mother Goose is seen reading a book. If operating, her tongue wags when the coin is deposited. This bank features a hand-painted finish with the title embossed to the side. A cast iron fire engine steam pump truck with driver features what appears to be the original red painted finish and rolling wheels. Please note the condition statement for these items.
Condition
- for age. The bank is missing the push lever; the winding mechanism is not operable. Overall loss of the paint finish to both pieces.

- overall. The mechanical bank measures approximately 10.75" W x 7.25" H x 3.65" D. The fire truck measures 4.75" W x 2.75" H x 1.5" D.
