An ornate, hand painted Italian earthenware jardiniere. The item features thick polychrome hand-painting including multiple story panels with an applied glaze. A gold and green tone detailing accents the scalloped edges and the elaborate and curved handles depict colorful dragons. A blue on white trellis pattern is applied above the framed story panels. The images in the story panels feature scenes of landscapes and undressed male children playing under a tree. The bowl sits on a scalloped and footed pedestal base with story panels and lattice design repeated. The jardiniere is marked ’Bologna * M, Made in Italy, Carbone to the underside.
