Chinese Silk Embroidery Panel of Flowers with a Butterfly
Item Details
A Chinese silk embroidery panel. This piece features a green ground upon which a red lily plant with one bloom and two emerging buds has been stitched by hand. A butterfly is approaching the open flower. This center image is bordered by a woven ribbon with linear geometric designs, and then another strip of the original ground fabric. The panel is finished with a frame of silk brocade in a lattice design. The piece is mounted on ivory-colored silk, behind glass, and in a wood frame that is wired for hanging.
Condition
- some wrinkles to piece; scratches in frame finish; tears to paper backing.
