Chinese Silk Embroidered Decorations
Item Details
An arrangement of embroidered decorations from a Chinese silk embroidery piece. The embroidery displayed here has been cut away from its original ground fabric and arranged on paper to recreate the original composition. Using a palette of indigo, sky blue, purple, and accents of light green and orange, the embroidery features floral designs surrounded with scrolling geometric lines. Each piece is composed of satin stitching with couched metal-wrapped thread as an outline. A jian ding wax export seal is present on the upper center of the mat. A handwritten label is affixed to the verso. The piece is presented with a blue velvet mat, under glass, and in a gold tone frame that is wired for hanging.
Condition
- some loose threads and fraying; some wear to velvet mat; frame shows scratches and nicks to finish.
