An alabaster bust titled Primo Amore by Italian sculptor Giuseppe (Professor) Bessi (1857–1922). ‘Primo Amore’ translates to ‘First Love.’ This bust depicts a young girl wearing a head scarf, and is signed to the back by ‘Prof G Bessi.’ The Italian sculptor Bessi studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and his work is considered an important representation of Salon sculpture. The bust rests atop a stone columnar base.
