A Japanese hand-colored ukiyo-e woodblock prints on paper titled Kiyomizu Hall at Ueno (上野清水堂), print number 10 from the series Forty-Eight Famous Views of Edo (江戸名所四十八景) by Utagawa Hiroshige II (二代目 歌川広重, 1826-1869). This print depicts a colorful scene of people in front of the large Kiyomizu Hall surrounded by flowering trees and distant water. The print and series titles are printed in the upper right corner and the artist’s ‘Hiroshige ga’ (広重画) signature is printed within a yellow cartouche in the lower right corner. The print is housed in a decorative frame with brown paper matting.

Condition

- print has moderate fading consistent with age
- paper to verso severely torn, repaired with tape
- minor wear to frame surface
