A pair of intaglio prints on paper of botanical specimens, by listed French artist Jean Louis Prévost (1760-1810). The carefully-colored prints each depict a bright bouquet, one featuring what appear to be foxgloves, morning glories, and an unblemished poppy and the other roses and hyacinth flowers. Both are signed in plate toward the lower left and titled, Pensées, Pavots et Pivoine and Roses Jaunes, Blanches, Jacinthes et Narcisses, to a lower margin. The pair are presented under glass and French matting in gold tone frames with wires for hanging.
Condition
- cracking and wear to frames; toning to paper and mat; minor residue to glass.
