A oil painting on canvas by well-listed artist Nicholas Briganti (Italy/Massachusetts; 1861-1944). The painting depicts a view of the Grand Canal in Venice with figures unloading goods from moored boats and figures, columns, and buildings in the background. Artist signature is signed in paint to the lower right. There is also a plaque with the artist’s name on the lower center. The piece is set in an ornate gilt wood frame.
Condition
- minor paint loss; frame abrasions; scratches and chips to frame; age discoloration to pigments; marked in pen to the verso of canvas. Light accretion across painting.
