Two French Hand Colored Engravings of River Scenes Including After M. Hilaire

A set of two hand-colored engravings on paper, each depicting a historic French landscape scene. Featured is a vintage engraving after a work by artist M. Hilaire titled 1re Vue des Environs de Mortagne (1st View of the Surroundings of Mortagne). It depicts a serene French landscape with several figures in a small boat gliding past green hills, stately architecture, weeping willows and grazing animals. Also featured is a similar vintage engraving that depicts a small ferry boat in a river lined with quaint cottages and tall green trees. The unsigned prints are matted in tan and presented under glass in gold tone wooden frames with hanging wire to the verso; each frame backing includes a sticker from Art Mart Inc. of Missouri.
Condition
- toning to prints and matting; minor wear to frames; frame joints are not fully flush.
