Early American Maple Slant Front Secretary

An Early American slant front secretary, circa early 1800s, in the Chippendale style. This maple piece has a slanted top over four graduated stacked drawers, which rest on corner bracket feet with scalloped arch accent to the sides and the front corners. It has exposed, large dovetail joinery along the top. The slanted front folds down and rests on pull out board supports to reveal ten vertically divided pigeon holes, over seven small drawers and a shallow, horizontal storage space. It has brass hardware throughout, including bail handles on batwing plates. The drawers have hand cut dovetail joinery and the drawers have been lined or painted. The back is composed of vertically set boards.
