Russian Lacquered Box with Fairytale Scene

Item Details

A late 20th-century Russian school black lacquer box. Decorated with a hand painted fairytale scene depicting a princess with her hand stretched out with an open palm. Several men fight on the battle field contiguous to her castle and ships appear in the blue sea in the background. Several hand written Russian inscriptions appear along the bottom edge. Red lacquered interior compartment revealed by the hinged lid.
