Vintage Italian Wooden Sign

A vintage Italian wooden sign. The handmade sign, featuring an acanthus motif scrolled frame has been painted blue in the center and reads ‘Gratia Plena Dominustecum’ translated as ‘Full of grace, the lord is with thee’. On the back an attribution ‘Aunt Mex had made for Pope painting by Paparo Stewart’ is written in pencil, with a ‘Made In Italy’ label, and two pieces of a blue and white label which are indecipherable. A ring is affixed at the top on the backside to hang the piece.

Condition

- small beetle holes. No signs of recent activity. Piece broken off at bottom.
